The Knoxville Open is moving to Holston Hills Country Club on the city’s northeast side.

The PGA-affiliated tournament will take place at the historic golf course starting in 2020, organizers announced Tuesday. The agreement lasts five years.

Rebranded as the Visit Knoxville Open, the city and county’s designated marketing firm will serve as title sponsor.

Fox Den had hosted the event for 21 years. The tournament was held at Willow Creek from 1990-94 and moved to Three Ridges from 1995-98.

The Visit Knoxville Open is part of the Korn Ferry Tour, which is considered a path to the PGA Tour. Knoxville is one of the four original tournaments from the Korn Ferry Tour’s inaugural 1990 season.

Until recently the tour’s title sponsor was Web.com.

The Knoxville Open has been without a major title sponsor since the News Sentinel and Pilot ended their relationships with the tournament two years ago.

The PGA hasn’t announced the Korn Ferry Tour dates for 2020. The Knoxville Open has been played in May the past two years.
